Reading the tree, and gestures

Reading a node

Color is status. Shape and outline style are type. Outline thickness and the incoming line's dashes are the item's own display attributes. A dimmed node keeps its color — it just did not match the filters. The lines dim with it: a link is quieted whenever either end is, so the tree keeps its shape while the matches stand out.

Gestures

Left click a node to collapse or expand one level. Right click it to isolate that assembly; the breadcrumb in the top corner walks you back out. ⋯ / + / − above a node open its structure actions and its whole subtree, and ↗ opens the item's PDM link in a new tab. Scroll to zoom, drag the background to pan.

A shared item is drawn in full under every assembly that contains it, so the same identifier can appear more than once — "Find" steps through the copies one at a time.

Keyboard

The controls panel in the top corner opens while the pointer rests on its strip. / jumps to its find field, opening it first if it is shut. f opens and closes the filters. Esc puts away whichever panel is open. While you are typing in a field or a dialog is open, the keys do nothing — a dialog's own Esc still closes the dialog.

Changing the structure

Drag a node onto another to move it inside that assembly, or between two nodes to place it at that spot — the target is highlighted while you hover, and an insertion line shows a gap. Dragging moves only the one link you grabbed; the same item under other assemblies is untouched.

Ctrl-click (or shift-click for a run) picks several children of the same assembly, then "Group into a new subassembly" rolls them up under a new item.

The trashcan appears while you drag. Dropping on it removes the link and nothing else — the item stays in the catalog, and if that was its last assembly it turns up under "Unused only" on the Items page. Nothing in this view can delete an item.

Export

Both take the tree as it is drawn now — your focus, collapsed branches, hidden types, and filter dimming all carry over.

Remove the whole branch from this parent. Dissolve it — lift its children up one level.

Export

Every format below exports the tree as it is drawn now: the assembly you have focused, the branches you have collapsed, the types you have switched off, and the dimming your filters apply. The zoom and pan are not part of it — an image is framed to the whole tree it exports, never cropped to the window.

Page setup… — sheet size, orientation and margins, on the Display page. Opens in a new tab so this tree keeps its focus, collapsed branches and filters; reload this page afterward for an export to use the new setup.

Sliced SVG

The paged export's sheet breakdown, as one SVG file per sheet in a single zip — each file named for its sheet's root identifier, with the same "continued from" breadcrumbs and the same legend the printable file carries.

The types you have switched off stay out of both modes — a hidden type says what the drawing is, not what you happen to be looking at, so even the whole tree leaves it out.
