Terms of Service
These terms are written plainly and are meant to be read.
Last updated: August 17, 2026
1. Who you are agreeing with
dwgtree is operated by Andrew R. Mail, an individual based in California, United States ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these terms.
You must be 18 or older.
2. What dwgtree is
dwgtree is a bill-of-materials tree builder. You enter items, link them into assemblies, group them into projects, and view the resulting tree.
It is a documentation and visualization tool. It is not a system of record. Do not use it as the only place your engineering data exists.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done through your account.
- One person per account. Do not share credentials.
- Tell us at security@dwgtree.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
- You must verify your email address before you can sign in.
4. Your data, and your right to upload it
You own what you enter. We claim no ownership of your items, trees, or projects. We do not use your content for any purpose other than providing the service to you.
You represent that you have the right to upload it. Much of what people put into dwgtree belongs to an employer or a client. By entering data you confirm you are permitted to store it in a third-party service. If you are not sure, ask whoever owns the data before you upload it. This is your responsibility, not ours.
We may access your data only to operate the service — for example, to diagnose a fault you have reported. There is no administrative interface that browses across accounts.
5. What you may not do
- Upload data you have no right to store in a third-party service.
- Attempt to access another account's data, or to circumvent the ownership controls in the application.
- Attack, overload, or probe the service, other than reporting a vulnerability in good faith to security@dwgtree.com. Do not test against other people's accounts or data.
- Use dwgtree to store personal data about individuals beyond the working information the application is designed for.
- Resell or rebrand the service.
6. Availability
dwgtree is provided as is, with no guarantee of availability. There is no uptime commitment and no service level agreement.
It runs on hosted infrastructure operated by others. It may be unavailable for maintenance, because of a provider outage, or because something broke. It is maintained by one person, so response times depend on one person's availability.
7. Backups are your responsibility too
We take reasonable care with your data and describe our arrangements at dwgtree.com/security, including the limits.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The CSV and image exports exist for this. Data loss is possible, and our recovery window is limited — the security page states it plainly.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the account page. Deletion requires your password, is immediate, and is irreversible. Everything the account owned is removed. There is no grace period and no recovery.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used to attack the service, or where we are required to. Where circumstances allow, we will tell you first.
9. Changes to the service and to these terms
dwgtree is under active development. Features may change or be removed. We will not make a change that deletes your data without telling you.
If we change these terms materially, we will email the address on your account. Continuing to use dwgtree after that means you accept the change.
10. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, dwgtree is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will not be lost.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of your use of dwgtree.
dwgtree is currently provided free of charge. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from data you uploaded that you did not have the right to upload, or from your breach of these terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
